Neighborhood kids carol at the outdoor nativity set of old Mr. “Grouch,” stealing Baby Jesus from the cradle and leaving Emily behind. Emily meets Mr. Crouch whose nativity set comes to life to teach about the first Christmas.
Twelve-year-old Jesus asks Mary and Joseph about the night he was born as the story is reenacted to include foreshadowing of His death and resurrection and the reason His birth is truly special.
One family’s frenzied departure for their annual Christmas pageant results in their transportation back to Bethlehem and their involvement in the first Christmas. They recognize the significance to “come to the manger.”
